dc.description.abstract Bacterial strains isolated from uranium mine sites of Jaduguda, India, were identified and characterized for their uranium and other heavy metal resistance and accumulation capacities. The most efficient strain was further investigated to elucidate the bacteria-metal interaction and its potential in in situ bioremediation. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequences most of the isolates were affiliated to the genus Bacillus followed by Serratia, Arthrobacter and Pseudomonas en
